刚刚，国际电气和电子工程师协会（IEEE）公布了 2020年新晋 Fellow 名单。
在新增名单中共有 282位学者入选，其中 79 位华人学者（占总人数的28%），来自中国的学者有 37 位。
IEEE，全称“电气和电子工程师协会”（Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers），是美国的电子技术与信息科学工程师的协会，也是世界上最大的非营利性专业技术学会，致力于电气、电子、计算机工程和与科学有关的领域的开发和研究，在航空航天、信息技术、电力及消费性电子产品等领域已制定了900多个行业标准，现已发展成为具有较大影响力的国际学术组织。其会员人数超过40万人，遍布160多个国家，其中50%以上来自美国以外地区。
IEEE Fellow为该协会最高等级会员，是IEEE授予成员的最高荣誉，每年由IEEE同行专家在拥有高级（senior）或终身（life）等级的会员中评选，当选人需要对工程科学技术的进步或应用作出重大贡献，为社会带来重大价值。当选人数不超过IEEE当年会员总人数的1‰。由于每年当选的IEEE Fellow数量较少，因此当选的科学家基本都是在科学与工程技术领域内取得重要成就的杰出科学家。
本届新增 IEEE Fellow中，共有149位来自北美洲（其中 135位来自美国，14 位来自加拿大），69位来自亚洲及太平洋地区，62位来自欧洲，拉丁美洲只有 2 人，而非洲则没有入选人员。
从上图中，我们可以看出在美国本土内，西部地区聚集的电气和电子工程的优秀人才更为充沛，相对来说，东部和西南部则略弱一些。
作为对比，亚洲及太平洋地区的入选人数与欧洲相当且略多。如果从南北半球来看，则新增IEEE Fellow绝大部分来自于北半球，再具体一点，共有 6 位来自澳大利亚（见下面国家分析），2位来自巴西，1位来自阿尔及利亚（北非）。
我们统计了来自不同国家及地区的新增 Fellow 人数，其中美国 135 人，其次是中国 37 人（大陆地区 23人，台湾地区 7 人，香港地区 6 人，澳门地区 1 人）。
从图中可以看出，除美国外，电气、电子工程的优秀人才主要集中在中、加、英、德、韩、日、意等国家。
为了便于我们了解，IEEE Fellow在中国地区的分布，我们统计了不同城市或地区的数据，如下图所示：
从中我们可以看出，大多数电子、电气优秀人才还是集中在北京地区；而台湾和香港也有着不错的人才汇聚；其他地区新增IEEE Fellow则相对比较分散和随机。
本届入选华人有 79 位，来自全球各地。其中大多数是在美华人，约32位，其次是来自大陆地区（23位）、台湾地区（7位）、香港地区（6位）。
由于IEEE 2020 新增 Fellow中华人并「不太多」，入选学者在各单位分布相对比较零散，没有出现扎堆现象。例如，清华只有两位，北大也仅有一位。
